Our HistoryThe Ryan Wolfe Kossar Foundation was created in September of 2004 in memory of Ryan Kossar, a six-week-old infant who died instantly and unexpectedly.
Our MissionThe Foundation’s mission is to prevent unexpected infant and childhood fatalities, such as Ryan’s, by funding research, medical training, family support and lobbying efforts.

What we Do
- Research
We will contribute towards research efforts that will provide understanding of the causes of sudden infant and childhood death, the diagnoses, and the methods of prevention. - Medical Training
Training programs for health care providers, emergency responders and community groups to assure supportive response following infant death; training on the promotion of infant health. - Family Support
Information and counseling for grieving families. Families are directly helped through information and support services to alleviate their guilt and aid in understanding this devastating syndrome. - Lobbying Efforts
Monitor legislation and government activities. Advocate for federal initiatives regarding infant mortality prevention, SIDS risk reduction, and the development of comprehensive services.
PartnershipThe RWK Foundation has partnered with the CJ Foundation for SIDS to align our fundraising efforts with the common goal of ending SIDS.
CJ Foundation for SIDS The CJ Foundation for SIDS is a nationwide voluntary health organization dedicated to recognizing the special needs of the SIDS community through funding sudden infant death research and support services. www.cjsids.com |
