The Ryan Wolfe Kossar Foundation was created in September of 2004 in memory of Ryan Kossar, a six-week-old infant who died instantly and unexpectedly.

The Foundation’s mission is to prevent unexpected infant and childhood fatalities, such as Ryan’s, by funding research, medical training, family support and lobbying efforts.

  • Research
We will contribute towards research efforts that will provide understanding of the causes of sudden infant and childhood death, the diagnoses, and the methods of prevention.
  • Medical Training
Training programs for health care providers, emergency responders and community groups to assure supportive response following infant death; training on the promotion of infant health.
  • Family Support
Information and counseling for grieving families. Families are directly helped through information and support services to alleviate their guilt and aid in understanding this devastating syndrome.
  • Lobbying Efforts
Monitor legislation and government activities. Advocate for federal initiatives regarding infant mortality prevention, SIDS risk reduction, and the development of comprehensive services.
